“Lost Restaurants of Chicago” bites & books
Join us Thurs., March 7, 2019, for a very special evening of bites and books at Lawry’s The Prime Rib. On the menu will be nibbles and nostalgia, as Borzo and Hot Doug’s very own Doug Sohn (who wrote the Foreword to “Lost Restaurants of Chicago”) will show a brief PowerPoint and discuss favorite bygone restaurants. Come see which ones you remember. $50 covers bites and a book—or pay just $25 for the bites, which will include Lawry’s signature mini prime rib sliders, mini Chicago hot dogs, arancini and crab cakes, as well as Lawry’s legendary spinning salad!
Tickets available from Shannon Tauschman at 312-787-5000 or online by clicking here.
Lawry’s (100 E. Ontario) is the perfect place to launch a new restaurant book because the building used to be the home of Kungsholm, known for its Swedish smorgasbord and miniature grand puppet opera! We’ll cover that, a bit of history of the building (a former McCormick mansion) and tell stories about favorite lost restaurants—from The Blackhawk to Gordon; Maxim’s to Hot Doug’s; etc.
Borzo will also hold a free drawing for two copies of his recent book, “Chicago’s Fabulous Fountains.” Questions: call Borzo at 312-636-8968.
